Carpentaria Shire Council

The Carpentaria Shire is located along the south eastern edge of the Gulf of Carpentaria, stretching from the Mitchell River in the north, to the Leichardt River in the west; approximately 64 000km2. Burke Shire Council

Burke Shire was named after the ill fated explorer Robert O’Hara Burke. The Shire covers an area of 41,802sq km with a population of 500. There are two townships - Burketown and Gregory.
